There are hundreds of different uses for LED lighting at an outdoor wedding, indoor wedding or party. It is vital that the wedding area is well lit, and that your guests can see everything that is going on. Similarly, guests want to have a clear view of their table when they sit down to eat, so feature lighting is important in this respect, too.
In terms of safety, walkways and other dark spots should be illuminated no matter the time of day so guests do not have to worry about bumping into anything and injuring themselves or ruining their outfits.
Lighting is key in setting the right kind of mood and atmosphere The entire lighting setup at a wedding may be softer and more romantic than the range of colours and dynamic lighting usually provided on a dance floor, or at a New Year’s Eve party, for example.
Here at Vision Lighting, we have a great selection of wedding venue lighting available for all of your wedding requirements. We have a wide variety of LED lights, floodlights and trough lights - so, whether you want to highlight specific features, provide all-round bespoke lighting, or make a special lit backdrop, we have everything you need to achieve your wedding goals and make it one to remember.
Introducing 10 wedding lighting ideas for 2023
1. Fairground Lights
Wedding venues or planners may opt for our
Fairground Cabochon LED Lights. Fairground lighting is used by sign makers to create unique signs, often made up of large built-up letters. The E10 Cabochons create an attractive diamond-like radial effect with light emitting from all angles, which is ideal for drawing attention to the all-important details – Mr & Mrs (or Mr & Mr and Mrs & Mrs, for that matter) is an increasingly popular choice.
From illuminating business signage to being placed in such a way that it is the sign itself, which is ideal for weddings, E10 Cabochon fairground lights can be used for a whole host of applications. The 1-watt bulb is available at Vision Lighting in two shades of white – cool white and warm white, both of which offer a slightly different shade, which is perfect for a host of different uses, be it marquee lighting or other wedding lighting.
A fairground Cabochon gets its name from the precious stone that it resembles. A Cabochon was the default way that gemstones were prepared before gemstone cutting was developed.
At Vision Lighting, we stock three different types of LED modules – single modules, double modules and triple versions. The smallest product we sell is our Mini LED Module, which is as effective outside as it is inside, making it perfect for illuminating signs and letters.
2. 3D Illuminated Letters
LED modules may be used by anyone wanting internally illuminated letters or signage for their wedding and could be a unique way to do seating plans, naming tables for people to find easily. The main benefit of choosing one of our LED products is that they produce a great amount of light and wattage for their size, so it makes illuminating things quick and easy.
By using modules and bars, you can target your illumination to a greater extent, which in turn reduces your cost - something worth thinking about as energy prices increase.
Light Bars and Neon
Our
LED light bar selection might be small, but we are confident that the products we offer are the best. The LED light bar we supply is a 12W one-metre bar that produces a cool white colour temperature and is extremely adaptable and rigid. These products are very popular for gorgeous wedding lighting, given that the bar can be cut every two LEDs so it can create a full and even illumination with ease. This could be used to create something bespoke for wedding receptions, pathway lighting and marquee lights. Neon effect LED products will soon be available to purchase online at Vision Lighting, so keep your eyes peeled for this release.
The neon sign trend also doesn’t appear to be going anywhere soon. This creative lighting option is perfect for personalising your wedding venue – you could use a neon sign to showcase your last name or add something to display behind the head table for an instant photo backdrop!
4. LED Strip Lighting
LED strips are incredibly versatile and customisable, not to mention they fit easily in all kinds of places thanks to their adhesive backing or clips. This makes LED strips ideal for adding decorative lighting and illumination to a range of areas on your wedding day in the style of fairy lights or string lights.
Installing LED strips in the ceiling coving of any space is a convenient and cost-effective way to add a beam of light or subtle accent lighting, depending on your personal preferences. They can be cut to size as well as easily joined together for longer runs and can be used to create a focal point or for ambient mood lighting. A great range of strip lights are available to create an even wash lighting effect that is efficient and striking.
5. Nanolight
No matter your lighting plans, the Nanolight is the perfect outdoor light for providing a range of illumination colours. If you’re having a winter wedding, even better. Trough lighting is most often used in the winter months because the sun sets in the late afternoon so outdoor spaces get darker quicker. Whether you want a cool white finish, warm white finish or another preferred colour, you can guarantee
the Nanolight can provide whatever lighting effects you desire.
6. Floodlighting
The
100W TradeLED Osram LED floodlight is made from high-quality steel, aluminium, and toughened frosted glass. It is then finished with an anti-corrosion treatment. Its excellent impact protection and
IP rating of 66 is a testament to its immaculate construction, thus the floodlight is highly suitable for both indoor lighting and outdoor events.
As it’s waterproof and protected against the elements, this product can be used as a powerful floodlight, spotlight or light. It’s especially effective for lighting for weddings and décor lighting and can even be used as security lighting when combined with a motion sensor.
For a softer effect, the 30W and 50W LED floodlights offer a less powerful light output, perfect for providing a gentle and calming atmosphere.
7. Landscape Lighting
If you’re hosting a reception outside, you’ll want to light the way to all the amenities that guests might need. Since fixtures are usually staked to the ground along a pathway, this can be easily done with landscape lighting.
There are a number of products you might want to consider when thinking about landscape lighting. Amongst the most popular in lighting design are LED sign lights.
Wall lights are also ideal for placing on posts to create a directional lighting effect. This is useful for highlighting pathways or for illuminating the perimeter of a wedding marquee.
8. Underlighting
You can use LED Strips basically anywhere! The best thing about them is that they can be attached anywhere for beautiful lighting because they are so easy to fit - all you have to do is use the double-sided tape that is already mounted to the strip. There are dozens of ways to use LED strips, as evidenced above, but we’re going to focus on underlighting here.
Underlighting mirrors or framed pictures creates an even glow that helps to make a flattering appearance. A bit more modern and futuristic when compared with traditional bulb lighting, strip lights as underlighting are subtle and, because they are hidden, will give off a nice soft glow.
Many wedding planners opt to place strip lighting under the edge of tables to guide guests to their seats. Not only is this pathway of light useful, it also creates a colourful and majestic effect that sets the perfect celebratory atmosphere.
9. Spotlight
The
10W surface mount adjustable LED spotlight by JCC Lighting is ideal for illuminating walkways and driveways. It’s suitable for outdoor use thanks to its IP65 rating and is available in a long or short configuration. Lighting designers often use these types of spotlights because of its ultra-modern design and robust construction, made with durable die-cast aluminium.
If you wish to highlight the married couple’s table during dinner or have a spotlight over the buffet table, for example, spotlights are the ideal way to combine style with functionality.
10. Pin Spotting
Pin spotting is a great way to show off anything from your floral arrangements to your cake or any other items you want to bring attention to. The most popular use of pin spotting is for floral centrepieces because when the lights are dimmed in a room to create a romantic mood, the floral arrangements are the main thing that tends to fade into the background. However, if you have pin spots on your flowers, your guests will be able to enjoy them throughout the entire reception!
Because centrepieces are typically large in size, they require 2 or 3 pin spots each to be able to fully benefit. Smaller ones can usually get away with only one spot if it’s placed high enough above the arrangement.
